DescriptionThe whole story▼

EV2 is Accossato's racing compound, and the company also makes its AGPA36 front pad for the Yamaha V-MAX of 2009 to 2018 in this mix. The V-MAX is a road-going V4 cruiser, so EV2 is a specialist option for owners who run the bike on closed courses and want a pad designed for heavy, repeated stops under competition conditions. For touring, commuting or wet riding, the sintered or street/track versions of this pad are more appropriate.

Key Features

  • AGPA36 front pad in EV2 racing compound
  • For the Yamaha V-MAX (VMX 1700), 2009 to 2018
  • Accossato's top racing compound
  • Intended for closed-course use
  • Designed for repeated high-speed stops
  • Two pads per box, one caliper
  • ST, EV1 and ZXC also available

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato calls EV2 a top racing compound and says no more than that, so neither do we. What can be said is that a racing mix is designed to work in the high temperature range reached during hard circuit use, while Accossato's usual aims of controlled wear and fade resistance still apply.

On a Closed Course

If a V-MAX is taken to a closed course, the front brake faces much higher energy than on the road: a heavy machine, strong acceleration and hard stops again and again. A racing compound such as EV2 is designed to keep the response steady in that situation, so the rider can build confidence in a fixed braking point. Riders using EV2 should also pay attention to the rest of the system. Brake fluid in good condition, clean pistons and discs with enough thickness are all part of a reliable setup.

Riding Home Afterwards

A racing pad on a cold road does not respond the way a road compound does. If the V-MAX is ridden to and from a venue, allow for that on the journey and keep the pace moderate until the brakes have warmed.

Fitment and Compatibility

AGPA36 is listed by Accossato for the Yamaha V-MAX from 2009 to 2018; the matching rear pad is AGPP121. The bike uses two front calipers, so two boxes are needed. Replace both sides together, clean and retract the pistons, check disc thickness and pump the lever firm before moving. Bed in the pads with a sequence of firmer stops at the start of the session.

Road Approval

We hold no German ABE or test certificate for this pad. EV2 is supplied for racing and competition only.
