DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first laps of an unfamiliar circuit are spent braking too early and too gently. As the track becomes familiar, braking moves later and grows firmer, and the lever setting that suited the cautious laps rarely suits the confident ones. For the Monster 1200 S of 2014 to 2020, Accossato's RA002 answers that with a folding brake lever and a 90-degree remote adjuster, so the left hand can alter the setting while riding, without releasing the throttle and without a stop in the pits.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Monster 1200 S, 2014 to 2020
- 90-degree remote adjuster, operated with the left hand
- Holder in 35 mm or 60 mm
- Fits on the original brake master cylinder
- Seven blade colours on a black anodised base
- Blade with or without RST lightening cut-out
- Machined aluminium, hinged blade
- No German ABE documented, for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Like the rest of Accossato's folding levers, the RA002 is machined from aluminium and anodised, with a black base at the pivot and a coloured blade that hangs on a hinge. The blade comes in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red or silver and can be ordered with the RST lightening cut-out or as a solid NRST blade. The remote adjuster is what makes this version different, and Accossato offers its holder in two sizes, 35 mm and 60 mm; you choose one when ordering.
Learning a Circuit You Have Never Ridden
On a new track you ride the first sessions on the Monster 1200 S with a lot in reserve. Braking points are conservative, you squeeze the lever progressively and you are still reading the surface. Many riders like a little more lever travel in that phase, since it lets them feed in pressure gently. By the afternoon, with the corners learned and the markers moved later, the same riders want the brake to bite after less lever travel.
On a Monster 1200 S with the RA002 that transition does not have to wait for a pit stop. On a straight, the left hand makes the change at the remote adjuster, and the next corner shows whether it was right. Small steps work well: one change, a lap to judge it, then another if needed. And while you are still learning where the kerbs and the run-off areas are, it is reassuring to know that the blade can fold if a mistake ends with the bike on the ground.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the Monster 1200 S of 2014 to 2020 for the RA002, a range that also covers the Stripes editions sold in 2015 and 2016. It fits the original brake master cylinder. The LV013 is the folding brake lever without remote adjuster and the LV015 the matching folding clutch lever, both listed for the same years.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented; the RA002 is offered for the race track.
