DescriptionThe whole story▼
With the 2018 CB1000R, Honda kept the recipe of a four-cylinder naked with a single-sided swingarm and gave it a new, stripped-back look under the Neo Sports Café label. It is a bike many owners put away for the colder months and bring out again in spring, and the first ride of the season is a good moment to look at the controls. Accossato's EDF033 fits that moment: an aluminium brake lever for the 2018 and 2019 CB1000R that you can set closer to or further from the grip, made in three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Neo Sports Café CB1000R, 2018 and 2019
- Mounts on the original Honda master cylinder
- Distance to the grip adjustable near the pivot
- Blade short, standard (roughly 138 mm) or long
- Seven anodised blade colours with a black hub
- One-piece fixed lever, no folding joint
- Supplied in an Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
Machined on CNC equipment from aluminium and then anodised, the EDF033 combines a black hub with a coloured blade. The hub contains the pivot and the reach adjuster, and the blade is fixed to it rigidly, with no hinge anywhere along its length. Anodising makes the colour part of the aluminium's surface rather than a layer on top of it, which helps on a CB1000R that may spend a winter in a damp garage: there is no paint to lift at the edges, and a wipe with a soft cloth is usually all the finish needs in spring.
The First Ride After Winter
Months off the bike blunt the reflexes that matter most in an emergency, and braking is one of them. Before the first spring ride on the CB1000R, check the brake fluid level in the reservoir, look at the pads, and make sure the lever feels firm rather than spongy after a winter of standing. Then set the reach for the gloves you will actually wear; a lever adjusted in the autumn for thick gloves can end up too far away for a thinner spring pair. Out on the road, give the tyres a few miles to come up to temperature, then find a quiet, straight stretch and practise several progressively firmer stops, so your hand relearns how much pressure the front brake needs. The short EDF033 suits riders who brake with two fingers; the standard and long blades suit a four-finger technique. None of this takes long, and it means the first unexpected stop of the year does not come as a surprise.
Fitment and Compatibility
The listing for the EDF033 covers the CB1000R of 2018 and 2019, the first two model years of the Neo Sports Café generation, and the lever mounts on the original master cylinder. Later model years are not covered by this listing. On the clutch side, Accossato's ESY688H is listed for a longer run, from 2018 to 2024. Blue, gold, green and orange blades exist in every length; silver in standard and short; black and red only as standard levers.
Road Approval
The EDF033 is sold for circuit use, as there is no documented German ABE for it.
