Check that nothing has been trapped on the sealing line. Then close the box. Five careful minutes protect the whole reason for buying a fine element, and a fine element that is bypassed filters no better than no element at all.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eIs the fine medium the right one for a Street Cup\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eSometimes not. The Street Cup is the sharpest-postured machine on this airbox, with low bars and an owner who tends to ride it in short, committed bursts on dry days. If a meaningful share of your riding is spent high in the rev range, or if the bike sees track days, then the P08 is the medium that suits it and the P14 is a deliberate step away from airflow that you would rather keep. The P14 earns its place on the Street Cup that also does the ordinary work: traffic, commuting, summer dust that never looks like dust. There the finer barrier costs you flow you were not using and buys retention in exactly the particle sizes that reach a bore.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eCare and cleaning\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eCompressed air is the service: clean side, working outwards, then the PM174P14 goes back in dry. A dirty season is a job for lukewarm water and a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. After that, open air: it must be dry through before refitting, and heat and flame are never part of getting it there. It is never oiled.
