The facts.

DescriptionThe whole story▼

This element does not come with a mileage figure. It comes with a habit. A racing medium is chosen inside a routine that takes the airbox apart frequently and asks the engine for everything it has, and the whole case for the racing weave is made on the assumption that such riding is there. Where the habit is missing, only half of the purchase is ever used: the price is paid on the first day, and the throughput waits for a use that never arrives.

Key Features

  • Single-layer polyester, woven, dry — no oil when new, none after cleaning
  • Threads from 22 µm diameter, rated flow 15,000 l/m²/sec
  • About twice the filtering area of other performance filters, in the standard shape
  • Nothing to migrate downstream, so the intake sensors stay clean
  • Fits inside the series airbox, invisible from outside, with no remap and no cutting
  • Reusable for the life of the machine, two years of warranty from purchase

A regime, not an interval

The instruction that comes with a racing cloth is not written in kilometres. It says: open the box, clean the element, put it back, and do it again soon. That rhythm belongs to a machine on a race schedule, which is opened up constantly anyway and uses its full intake capacity in every session. Take the same cloth into an ownership where the bike is serviced once a year and ridden gently, and most of what the premium bought simply goes unused. The medium behaves exactly as specified — in the maker's test it even held back more 100-micron particles than the standard P08; what does not fit is the ownership around it.

How this machine is generally used

The Superveloce is bought in named versions — Oro, Ago, Nero Carbon — and it tends to be ridden in shorter, more deliberate outings than the Brutale it shares an engine family with. Fewer hours a year means less demand for capacity, and fewer track days mean fewer moments when the racing cloth's extra flow is ever called on; both pull in the same direction. The standard P08 at 80 microns and 5,050 l/m²/sec is the honest recommendation for that pattern, at a fraction of the price, keeping every property that matters here: a dry medium, twice the usual cloth area, a wash instead of a purchase. CM135S F1-85 belongs to the owner who has genuinely built the routine, not to the one who intends to.

Care and cleaning

Whichever cloth is fitted, the method is identical and the tools are few. Compressed air, applied to the clean side and directed outward, is the whole of a normal service. Water is the exception: hand-warm, with a mild washing-up liquid, when something has been left behind that air will not take, and rinsed until the water runs clean. Afterwards it dries in air, unhurried and away from every heat source — a hot-air gun or a flame will destroy the fibre — and it goes back only when dry, with nothing added to it.
