⟲ 360° — drag meThe facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
Race weekends are decided by what is in the van. The RC 390 R lives between sessions, and any part of it that needs a bucket of water and an afternoon of drying is a part that can cost you a session. A dry filter changes that arithmetic: the PM200S is cleaned with air alone and refitted straight away. And because it is a reusable panel rather than a consumable, a second one in the toolbox is a spare you keep rather than a spare you use up.
Key Features
- Serviced with compressed air between sessions; the bike never waits on a wet part
- Dry polyester medium: no oiling, no drying rack, no bottle in the van
- Twice the working area of a typical performance element in the same standard housing
- Drops into the series airbox; nothing is cut and no mapping work follows
- Specified at 80 microns, listed for road and circuit use
- Reusable indefinitely, with two years of warranty from the purchase date
The case for owning two
Most spares are insurance against breakage. This one is insurance against time. If the panel does need a proper wash — a wet session, a gravel trap, an afternoon behind twenty other bikes — it has to go back in dry, and drying takes as long as it takes. A second element means the wash can wait until the evening while the bike still runs the next session. Neither panel is consumed by the exercise; you simply rotate them, and both keep their full working life.
What it does not buy you
Nothing fitted inside a standard airbox makes a race-prepared single noticeably more powerful, and it would be dishonest to suggest that lap time hides in a filter panel. What the element does is hold the intake restriction where it started. A paper filter loaded with a weekend of debris is a slowly closing door; a dry weave blown out between sessions is the same door every time you go out. On a machine whose setup is only meaningful if it stays constant, that consistency is the point. If you want the most open weave drawn for this box it is the F1-85, coarser and far freer flowing, listed at around two and a half times what this one costs and the wrong choice for anything that also sees a public road.
Care and cleaning
Between sessions: air line on the clean face, working outwards, then straight back into the bike. Once the panel is genuinely soiled rather than dusty, wash it — hand-hot water, a little detergent, and rinsing until nothing more comes out grey — and then let it dry in moving air on its own schedule. Heat is forbidden in every form, including a heat gun on its lowest setting. The illustrated sheet in the Downloads tab covers it in pictures, and at no point does anything get oiled.
Fitment & Compatibility
Specified for the KTM RC 390 R, 2022 to 2026. The element serves the whole family built around this airbox — fourteen machines across KTM and Husqvarna in total — and each is listed with its years in the Fitment tab.
