Every other line on a service schedule comes back. Tyres, brake pads, oil and plugs are all bought again on a cycle, and the schedule is really a list of future purchases with dates attached. One entry can be made to stop returning. Sprint Filter specifies PM237S for the service life of the motorcycle: it is washed and refitted rather than thrown away, so after the first purchase the air filter stays on the schedule as a job and leaves it as an item.
Key Features
- A single dry layer of woven polyester, supplied unoiled and refitted unoiled after every wash
- Filtration figure of 80 µm with a rated flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec through clean cloth
- Polyester threads from 22 µm across — that is the gauge of the fibre, not the gap left between fibres
- Retention measured at 93.13 % of 100-micron particles, where four-layer oiled cotton returned 76.42 %
- Close to twice the filtering surface of a comparable performance element, carried in the original frame
- Direct replacement inside the series airbox: nothing cut, no adapter, no fuelling work
What the change of category asks in return
A part built to last the life of the machine is not a part that looks after itself. It has to come out at a service, be blown through and go back in, and the one instruction in that routine with no tolerance is the drying. Polyester is ended by heat well before there is anything to see, so a hot-air gun saves twenty minutes and costs the element. Treated properly, the same panel still goes into the airbox in ten years doing what it did on the first ride, with two years of warranty behind the purchase and nothing but time behind the rest.
The gain, stated plainly
Not power. A panel dropped into an untouched airbox does not make a standard Challenger noticeably stronger, and a description hinting otherwise has changed the subject. What is real is the shape of one component's working life: an intake restriction that begins low and is put back to that figure at every cleaning, instead of one that travels in a single direction until somebody buys a replacement. Close to double the filtering area of a conventional element also means a given load lies thinner across the cloth.
Care and cleaning
Routine work on the PM237S is compressor work: hold the nozzle to the clean face and drive the load back out through the side it entered by. Where a long summer has left a film that air will not shift, lukewarm water and a little mild detergent will, rinsed until the run-off is clear. Never a heat gun, a radiator or a flame afterwards — moving air at room temperature, and the time that takes. The panel returns dry and untreated, and the maintenance sheet is filed under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Catalogued for the Indian Challenger built from 2020 to 2026, seated in the unmodified series airbox. Two further listings carry the identical element over the same years, the Challenger Dark Horse and the Challenger Limited, so the fitment list runs to three entries against one code. Check your model year in the Fitment tab.
