DescriptionThe whole story▼
Born from WorldSBK competition and engineered for the road, the OZ Gass RS-A wheel set brings Italian forged-aluminium craftsmanship to the Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M. Every spoke, rim profile and surface finish is the product of OZ Racing's decades of motorsport manufacturing experience — a wheel set that reduces unsprung and rotational mass without compromising the structural integrity demanded by one of the most powerful supersports on the market.
Key Features
- Forged aluminium construction delivers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, cutting rotational mass to sharpen acceleration, braking and mid-corner agility on both road and track.
- Direct WorldSBK heritage — the Gass RS-A design is developed alongside OZ's elite racing programme and transferred straight to this street-legal set.
- Available in four premium anodised finishes: gloss black, techno black, techno gold and titanium — each anodised for lasting corrosion resistance rather than painted.
- Complete set includes the front and rear rim, high-quality bearings, aluminium angle valves and spacers (fitted only where required), plus a sprocket carrier — note that the original sprocket is not compatible and must be replaced.
- Bolt-on fitment engineered to match the original wheel dimensions of the Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M across all RN32, RN49 and RN65 generations from 2015 to 2026.
- Made in Italy — manufactured to OZ Racing's exacting quality standards for longevity and consistent performance under sustained high-load use.
Italian Manufacturing and Build Quality
OZ's Gass RS-A wheels are not rebranded aftermarket items — they are produced in Italy in the same facilities that supply wheels for World Superbike, MotoGP and Formula One programmes. The forging process aligns the aluminium grain structure for maximum fatigue resistance, meaning the wheels can absorb the punishment of repeated hard braking zones and aggressive kerb strikes that come with track-day use, while retaining the refined finish expected on a premium road machine.
The anodised surface treatment goes beyond aesthetics. Unlike paint or powder coating, anodising becomes part of the aluminium itself, resisting chips, scratches and the alkaline residues left by tyre warmers or track cleaning products. Each of the four colour options maintains the same dimensional integrity — there is no variation in wall thickness or balance between finishes.
Performance on Road and Track
Reducing rotational mass is one of the most effective ways to transform how a motorcycle feels. With lighter wheels, the Yamaha YZF-R1/M responds faster to throttle inputs, requires less effort to change direction mid-corner and sheds speed more decisively under braking. The Gass RS-A set is designed to be equally at home on a Sunday morning road ride as it is during a full track day, eliminating the need to run separate wheel sets for different uses.
Fitment and Compatibility
This wheel set is specifically engineered for the Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M across the following model generations:
- RN32 — model years 2015 and 2016
- RN49 — model years 2017 to 2020
- RN65 — model years 2021 to 2026
The wheels are dimensionally compatible with the original Yamaha rims. The included sprocket carrier is required, as the standard Yamaha sprocket carrier is not compatible with the Gass RS-A rear wheel.
