An adjuster that turns without resistance has lost its detent; the setting is then guesswork. Adjuster housings carry seals, and a leak there empties the damper as surely as a shaft seal. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed units and are replaced rather than opened.

Original Öhlins Part

Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Suspension is one of the few areas where the original part is genuinely the cheaper decision. The exploded drawing for your unit names the number; if you do not have it, we do. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Order under 21044-36. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Electronically controlled adjusters replace the needle with a solenoid but keep the same hydraulics. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed units and are replaced rather than opened.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 21044-36

Category: Adjusters

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/21044-36_0716f6ab-4d22-48ec-bf49-c2804e807898.png?v=1788879418
