What It Is
01693-01 is the 14 mm, 7.5 mm, 0.25 mm version — Öhlins lists each size separately. Progressive springs change rate through the stroke and suit short-travel machines. Rates are offered in steps so a change can be made in one direction at a time. Springs are a service part: they age, they settle, and replacing them restores the geometry.
Genuine Service Part
Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. The exploded drawing for your unit names the number; if you do not have it, we do. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it.
Identifying the Right Part
Order under 01693-01. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. dimension a 14 mm, dimension b 7.5 mm, dimension c 0.25 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Springs are the cheapest suspension part and the one that decides the most. Rates are offered in steps so a change can be made in one direction at a time.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
