Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 04103-07

Original Öhlins service part

Where It Sits

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Port area sets how much oil can pass before the shims begin to lift. Twin-tube pistons have separate paths for compression and rebound, which is the whole point of the design. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft.

Genuine Service Part

Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not.

How to Be Sure It Fits

If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 04103-07. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Rebuilding a piston means keeping the shim order, because the stack is the tuning. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04103-07

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04103-07_5b0e3c6d-5f31-4369-81db-e02c43179b99.png?v=1788875000
