Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 22149-01

Function

Öhlins publishes no separate dimension for this position, so the part number carries the identity. Bands are consumables and are replaced at every rebuild. Öhlins machines the ports rather than casting them, so the edges stay sharp and the flow predictable. Valves and needles set the adjustable part of the damping; the piston sets the rest.

Why the Original

Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.

Identifying the Right Part

Part number 22149-01 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Bands are consumables and are replaced at every rebuild. A check valve holds pressure in one direction and opens in the other; a worn one lets damping bleed away.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 22149-01

Category: Piston Bands

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/22149-01_511402ff-45e1-4188-bd7c-b3eaaa1e23ed.png?v=1788880627
