Bushings in the fork carry the side load; play there shows up as knocking under braking.

Key Features

Dimension A 48 mm

Öhlins part number 04761-44

Dimension B 618.5 mm

Original Öhlins service part

What It Is

04761-44 is the 48 mm, 618.5 mm version — Öhlins lists each size separately. A bent inner tube is scrap — straightening changes the wall and it bends again. Inner tubes are coated because they run in bushings and seals for their whole life. Axle clamps are machined so the axle clamps without pinching the fork out of alignment.

Why the Original

An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it.

Getting the Number Right

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 04761-44 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Öhlins states dimension a 48 mm, dimension b 618.5 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Outer tubes hold the bushings and the seal head, so their bore finish matters as much as the inner tube's outside. Axle clamps and lower legs are machined to hold the axle without distorting the fork.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04761-44

Category: Inner Tubes

Dimension A: 48 mm

Dimension B: 618.5 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04761-44_ef5f44fb-6d0c-43e4-a403-39895b6f9634.png?v=1788873253
