Aprilia's Superbike
A 999 cc V4 in a frame with adjustable headstock, engine position and swingarm pivot. Very few road motorcycles allow that much geometry change, and it comes directly from a racing programme where such adjustment is routine.
The 2017 Revision
Aprilia reworked the RSV4 with a new airbox, revised electronics and a substantial power increase. It is the version that carried the model through to the 2021 redesign and it remains competitive on a circuit against considerably newer machinery.
Where the Switch Lives
Inside the throttle assembly rather than clamped separately to the bar. That is compact packaging and awkward servicing, because the controls cannot be renewed without the housing they sit in.
Adjustable Everything
Aprilia's chassis adjustment extends to the swingarm pivot and the engine mounting position, which lets a rider change how the bike puts power down rather than only how it steers. The cockpit deserves the same level of attention.
A Sensor, Not a Drum
The electronic throttle means the housing holds a position sensor. Any slack between the tube and the body becomes vagueness in what the ECU reads, which on a bike with this much electronic intervention is worth avoiding.
Four Finishes
Black, red, blue and titanium, all anodised through the surface. Against Aprilia's black and red liveries the first two are continuations rather than additions to the cockpit.
Sealed Inside
The switch elements are sealed units within the machined body. Track use means hot washing after every session, and there is no moulded seam anywhere for a jet to exploit.
