DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 007 answers the secondary air circuit on the Panigale 1199 R with a fixed resistance, so the controller finds what it expects even though the valve itself has gone.
Key Features
- Ducati Panigale 1199 R (2012–2017)
- Takes the secondary air solenoid out of the circuit
- No warning on the instrument panel
- Plugs into Ducati's own connector
- Nothing cut, nothing spliced
- Standard valve refits at any time
Two Hundred and Two Horsepower
With the racing kit, from a hand-assembled Superquadro. It was the most powerful twin Ducati had built when it arrived.
Why Ducati Fits It
Because a drive cycle measures what leaves the silencer rather than what happens inside the engine, and burning the residue afterwards is the cheapest way to reach the figure.
Under the Tank
On most of the range the connector sits above the airbox, which means the tank comes off. The access takes longer than the exchange does.
An Ageing Solenoid
On older Ducatis the valve fails by itself, producing exactly the fault an owner creates by removing it. Some of these are fitted as repairs.
The Rider Never Controls It
There is no switch, no menu and no indication the valve exists. Most owners first hear of it when an exhaust change makes its consequences audible.
The Second Half Is Optional
Plenty of owners fit only the electrical eliminator and are entirely content. The cylinder head cover addresses a different problem altogether.
Done Right, Invisible
Correctly fitted, nothing about the motorcycle indicates the change except the absence of a noise and the absence of a warning.
Why the Solenoid Is the Part That Dies
It is a coil switching a small valve, bolted within a hand's width of a cylinder head and cycled every time the engine runs through its warm-up. Insulation ages under that treatment in a way that has nothing to do with how far the motorcycle has been ridden, which is why low-mileage machines turn up with exactly the same fault as hard-worked ones.
The Wiring Stub Left Behind
Removing the valve leaves a short length of loom ending in a connector, and where that goes matters more than it sounds. Tied back against the frame it is invisible for the life of the motorcycle; left hanging it eventually finds a hot exhaust header or a moving cable. Two minutes with a cable tie is the difference between a clean job and one that comes back.
