DescriptionThe whole story▼

A V-Strom earns its keep at the two extremes of a journey: the motorway miles nobody talks about, and the slow, awkward sections where the clutch does all the work. The second is where a lever you cannot reach properly starts to cost you.

Key Features

  • Central adjuster wheel, reachable from the riding position
  • Folding blade that swings clear instead of snapping off
  • Engineered break point inside the two-finger zone
  • Phosphated pivot seat, free of play from new
  • CNC-machined from solid aluminium, black anodised
  • Road legal in Germany under ABE No. KBA 91203

How It Is Made

Machined from solid aluminium, anodised black, with the pivot bore phosphated as its own operation. On a bike that gets ridden through winters rather than parked for them, that treated seat is what stops the blade going slack in its mount.

Gloves, Standing, and One Finger

Adventure riders use the clutch standing on the pegs, in thick gloves, often with a single finger over the blade. All three of those want the lever closer than the factory setting. Thirty-five detents cover the range, adjusted by hand at the roadside without tools.

Slow Work

Gravel tracks, tight turns, a loaded bike on a camber — this is clutch riding, and clutch riding with a badly placed lever is tiring within the hour. Bringing the blade in turns a full-hand pull into something two fingers can hold for as long as the section lasts.

Road Approval

Road legal in Germany under ABE No. KBA 91203. The certificate downloads from this page; print it and carry it with the vehicle papers. No entry and no inspection are required.

Scope of Delivery

One black clutch lever for the DL1000 V-Strom, model years 2014 to 2022. The clutch switch actuator is not included — it transfers from the original lever, so keep that to hand during fitting.
