DescriptionThe whole story▼

The intake duct carries air from the front of the bike back to the airbox, running alongside the frame under the tank cover. Out of sight, and part of how the engine fills.

Key Features

  • Duct moulded to the factory bore and length
  • Autoclave-cured 200 Plain weave, four finishes
  • Mates to the standard airbox rubber and frame brackets
  • Nothing opened up, nothing smoothed out
  • Catalogued for the 1260, 1200 and 950

Sixty-Four More Cubic Centimetres, Same Duct

Ducati went from 1198 to 1262 for this generation and did not change this part. That is quietly informative: if the duct had been the restriction on the smaller engine, a larger one would have needed a bigger one.

It is also the argument against opening it up. The tract is tuned as a system with the airbox and the throttle bodies, and the variable valve timing is mapped against that behaviour. A wider duct on a fuelled engine is not free power; it is a change nobody wrote a map for.

Fitment and Compatibility

Ducati Multistrada 1260, model years 2018 to 2020, with the original airbox and routing.

Road Approval

Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. It reproduces the original geometry and is not an intake modification.

Fitting

This one needs the tank cover and both flanks off before it will come out. Take the time.

At the airbox end, push until the rubber is fully home and then check by hand that the lip has rolled back into place. A joint left slightly open lets dirty air bypass the filter, and the engine gives no sign of it until a bore inspection years later.
