DescriptionThe whole story▼

Two riders, cases, a long valley road and clouds building over the peaks: on a trip like that, the rear brake of a Yamaha FJR1300AS does a lot of quiet work. Accossato's AGPP121 rear pad in its Sintered (ST) compound is designed for it. Accossato says the compound keeps a high, constant grip level at low and high temperatures and grips well in the wet. It is listed for the FJR 1300 AS from 2013 to 2019.

Key Features

  • Accossato AGPP121 rear pad in Sintered (ST) compound
  • Fits the Yamaha FJR1300AS, 2013-2019
  • Accossato: stable grip regardless of temperature, reliable in the wet
  • For two-up trips with full cases
  • Useful for speed control on long descents
  • Two pads per box for the rear caliper
  • OR version also available

Construction and Material Quality

What the ST mix is supposed to deliver, according to its maker, is independence from conditions: grip that stays up whether the pad is cold or has been working for a quarter of an hour, and bite that survives a wet rotor. Like every compound from the Villastellone firm, it is also meant to last, to resist fading by keeping its temperature in check and to stop the bike decisively.

Holding Speed on the Way Down

On a loaded FJR1300AS, many riders let the automated gearbox handle the shifts on a long descent and use the rear brake to hold a steady speed between corners. That keeps the rear pad working for minutes on end, and it warms up. The ST compound is designed to keep the same bite as it heats up and to keep working if the storm arrives before the valley floor. With a passenger aboard, predictable rear braking also keeps the bike calm and level. For solo riding mostly on dry roads, the OR version is gentler on the disc.

Fitment and Compatibility

In our listing, AGPP121 belongs to the rear caliper of the FJR 1300 AS built between 2013 and 2019; the front caliper pads for the same bike are AGPA21. The two pads in a box make up the complete rear set. Give the piston a wipe before you push it back into its bore, glance at the rotor for grooves, and top up or renew the fluid if needed. A few strokes of the pedal restore pressure; after that, a handful of gradual stops lets the new pads settle.

Road Approval

We cannot provide ABE or Prüfzeichen documents for AGPP121ST; it is supplied for competition.
