DescriptionThe whole story▼

Yamaha built the MT-10 as the naked sibling of the R1, borrowing the crossplane engine character for a bike without the fairing, and later added a Tourer Edition with a small flyscreen and heated grips for riders who wanted some of that comfort without losing the naked silhouette. Accossato lists the AGD221 for the MT-10 across 2016 to 2020, a silver front brake lever in the original form.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever in the original form for the Yamaha MT-10
  • Accossato's entry covers 2016 to 2020, including the Tourer Edition from 2017 to 2019
  • Silver
  • Right-hand side of the handlebar
  • An original spare parts type, developed for good value for money
  • Accossato states that its manufacturing process improves resistance after damage
  • One lever per pack
  • No German ABE, no test mark; listed for racing and competition

Construction and Material Quality

Despite sharing its engine with one of Yamaha's flagship sportsbikes, the MT-10 gets a brake lever priced on exactly the same basis as any other bike in Accossato's original spare parts range, the cost of a repair. The AGD221's outline matches the lever fitted to both the standard MT-10 and its Tourer Edition, so the touring-oriented version keeps the same control as the plainer bike underneath its extra comfort equipment. A claim of better resistance after a fall accompanies the part, without further technical detail, and none is added here. This fitment is silver.

One Engine, Two Characters

The MT-10's crossplane triple-and-a-half character carries over directly from the R1, and riders who move between the two machines often comment on how familiar the pull of the throttle feels despite the completely different riding position, but none of that engineering carries through to the front brake lever, which is a standard Yamaha naked-bike fitment shared across several models in this range rather than anything borrowed from the sportsbike. The Tourer Edition adds comfort equipment around that same control without changing it, which is convenient for an owner choosing between the two versions, since the brake lever itself is identical whichever one is parked in the garage.

Fitment and Compatibility

The silver AGD221 spans 2016 to 2020 on the MT-10, a year short of the black AGD287's 2016-2021, while the AGS01 clutch lever applies only to the Tourer Edition, 2017 to 2019. This silver code also reaches the Yamaha FZ8 and the MT-09 SP. Accossato's CNC levers for this fitment are the EDF016 and ESV004.

Road Approval

No approval papers accompany the AGD221, so we cannot state a German ABE or a test mark for it, and the lever is offered for racing and competition use.
