DescriptionThe whole story▼

Yamaha's XJ6 is an approachable four-cylinder naked bike, and many examples spend their lives as dependable commuters, ridden to the office in the morning and home through rush hour. Accossato lists its AGPA22 front pad for the XJ6 across 2009 to 2015, and this is the Organic (OR) version. It is aimed at riders whose week is made of junctions, roundabouts and slow queues, who like a front brake that comes in gently and quietly, and who would rather keep their front discs than replace them early.

Key Features

  • AGPA22 front pad in Organic (OR) compound
  • Listed for the Yamaha XJ6, 2009 to 2015
  • Gentle, easily metered bite in traffic
  • Accossato: lasting performance and reduced disc wear
  • Quiet at low speed
  • Two pads per box for one caliper
  • ST, EV1 and EV2 are the sibling versions

Construction and Material Quality

For Organic, Accossato's statement is brief: the pad keeps performing well over a long life, and it spares the disc. On a commuter that brakes a hundred times a day but rarely hard, those two things decide the running cost of the front brake more than any peak figure could. Accossato began in 1969 in Moncalieri, just outside Turin.

Rush Hour on an XJ6

In heavy traffic, an XJ6 rider uses the front brake in small, frequent doses: rolling off towards a red light, easing behind a bus, stopping at a zebra crossing. An organic pad makes each of these smooth, because the braking force rises gently as the lever moves rather than jumping at the first touch. That keeps the fork calm and the bike easy to balance at walking pace. The pad works straight away on a cold disc, which matters on short trips, and stays quiet when crawling through a car park.

For Other Riding Styles

If you ride through wet winters, carry a passenger or tour with luggage, ST is designed for that. Sportier riders will find EV1 and EV2 in the same size.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's data places AGPA22 on several XJ6 versions: the XJ6-N, XJ6-S and XJ6-F 600. The XJ6 has two front calipers, so two boxes are required for a complete front change. For the rear, Accossato lists AGPP88 for the 2013 to 2015 bikes. Accossato also offers the DK077 and DKS073 discs for this model. Change pads on both calipers together, clean the pistons before pushing them back, and pump the lever until it is firm.

Road Approval

We do not hold a German ABE or test mark for this pad. It is supplied for racing and competition use.
