DescriptionThe whole story▼

A trail ride that crosses a stream or two leaves the chain and everything around it wet through for the rest of the day, and the sensible habit on the far bank is a quick look at how the chain is sitting before carrying on. Accossato's RCH1 covers the CRF250X built between 2004 and 2017, a pair of rear axle blocks with an adjusting screw built into each one, so that quick check can turn straight into a fix if the chain has loosened.

Key Features

  • Rear axle blocks for the Honda CRF250X, 2004 to 2017
  • Accossato code RCH1, supplied as a pair, left and right
  • Each block carries its own adjusting screw for chain tension
  • Black, red or silver
  • Accossato also lists a matching chain guide, GCH1, for this bike
  • A version of the blocks without the adjusting screw, RTH1, is listed for the same bike
  • No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The RCH1 pair sits where the stock blocks do, at the ends of the swingarm, with a screw worked into each one so the rear wheel can be nudged back and forth without a separate tool. Accossato offers the pair in black, red or silver, a choice that most owners make to suit the rest of the bike rather than for any difference in how the blocks work underneath. After a ride through water or deep mud, checking that the screw still turns freely, rather than assuming grit has not found its way in, is worth doing before the next outing.

Checking Tension After a River Crossing

Fording a stream on a CRF250X soaks the chain in exactly the mixture of water and whatever is suspended in it, and that mixture tends to wash some of the tension out of a chain that was set correctly that morning, loosening it slightly as grit works its way between the links. Stopping on the far bank to glance at the chain costs very little time, and a block with its own adjusting screw means that glance can become an actual correction on the spot rather than a note to deal with back at the van. Turning both screws the same amount keeps the wheel tracking straight rather than nudging it sideways, which matters as much on a slow technical trail as it does on anything faster. Riders who cover a lot of wet ground get more use out of being able to fix tension on the trail than most.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato names the CRF250X built between 2004 and 2017 on the RCH1's own application list, a single long run rather than a part shared across several models. Comparing your own frame's build year against that list is still worth doing before ordering, since the span covers more than a decade of this bike. For the same machine, Accossato also lists a matching chain guide under the code GCH1, and a version of these axle blocks without the adjusting screw, RTH1, for riders who prefer the stock method of setting tension.

Road Approval

No German ABE is on file for the RCH1, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use rather than for use on public roads.
