DescriptionThe whole story▼

The HS053 converts the BMW F800GS's cable clutch to hydraulic operation, using a clutch pump with a 13.5 mm piston, a clutch hose and the AT002-64-73 actuator in place of the stock mechanism. Accossato builds the kit in Italy, describing it as lightweight and straightforward to fit, with the aim of reducing the effort needed at the lever. Fitting is intended for a qualified workshop, with the system then filled, bled and its operation checked; DOT 4 is the only fluid specified.

Key Features

  • Converts the cable-operated clutch to hydraulic operation
  • Clutch pump with a 13.5 mm piston
  • Clutch hose included
  • AT002-64-73 actuator specific to this application
  • Lightweight, made in Italy
  • Said by Accossato to reduce lever effort and need little maintenance
  • DOT 4 fluid only

Construction and Material Quality

In place of the F800GS's factory cable, the HS053 fits a clutch pump machined to a 13.5 mm piston, connected by a dedicated hose to the AT002-64-73 actuator at the gearbox. Built in Italy and kept light, the kit is designed to replace the cable mechanism rather than add bulk around it. Accossato describes the system's maintenance needs as minimal once bled and running, with DOT 4 the only fluid it lists as suitable.

Clutch Control While Standing on the Pegs

The F800GS is built for mixed road and off-road riding, and off-road technique often has a rider standing on the pegs working the clutch in short, deliberate bursts over loose or technical ground rather than sitting and feathering it smoothly as on tarmac. A hydraulic system responds to lever input without the slight lag a cable can develop as it wears, which matters more in that kind of situational, split-second clutch use than it does on a bike only ever ridden on sealed roads. Accossato's stated focus on cutting lever effort carries the same benefit into either riding style, but it is the off-road use that puts the most varied demands on the clutch hand.

Fitment and Compatibility

This kit is built for the BMW F800GS (2010–2018); Accossato also lists it as compatible with the Honda NC750S (2015–2018), the Honda NC750X (2015–2018), the KTM 790 ADVENTURE (2019–2020), the KTM 790 DUKE (2018–2020), the Suzuki GSX-S1000 (2015–2021), the Suzuki GSX-S1000F (2015–2021), the Yamaha MT-07 (2014–2020), the Yamaha MT-09 (2013–2020) and the Yamaha SR400 (2014–2016), all sharing the identical clutch pump, hose and AT002-64-73 actuator. Exact production years for each are given in the Fitment tab on this page.

Road Approval

There is no ABE or parts certificate documented by Accossato for the HS053; registration rules depend on the country, so check before road use.
