DescriptionThe whole story▼
With its fairing and clip-on bars, the Yamaha XSR900 GP borrows its looks from the Grand Prix bikes of the 1980s, and it is no surprise that some owners take it to a circuit. A track day asks far more of the front brakes than road riding: repeated hard stops from high speed, lap after lap, with little time to cool in between. Accossato lists its DK077 for the XSR900 GP of 2024 and 2025, an Elite-line floating disc with a 298 mm ring, a black carrier and logo rivets.
Key Features
- Elite-line floating front disc for the Yamaha XSR900 GP, 2024 and 2025
- 298 mm friction ring on a black carrier
- 132 mm centre opening, 5 mm thickness
- Thickness equal to the original disc, according to Accossato
- Logo on each rivet; minimum thickness printed on the disc
- One disc per order; the XSR900 GP brakes with two
- No German ABE documented; made for track use
Construction and Material Quality
As an Elite-line disc, the DK077 combines a 298 mm friction ring with a black carrier, held together by rivets that bear the Accossato name. The ring is 5 mm thick, which the company says matches the original disc, and the carrier's centre measures 132 mm. Accossato refers to its background in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and to in-depth work on the tolerances between ring and carrier. It also says the moderate weight of its discs helps with steering and control.
Heat on a Track Day
On the road, the front brakes of an XSR900 GP rarely get truly hot. On a circuit, every lap may include several stops from high speed, and a disc can reach temperatures in one session that it never sees on public roads. That is where the floating design earns its place: the ring can expand without pulling against the carrier. The rest of the system still needs preparation.
Before the day, check the pads and the fluid. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point, and old fluid is a common cause of a lever that goes soft late in a session. Replace it according to Yamaha's service schedule, or before the track day if nobody knows when it was last changed. Measure both front discs against the minimum thickness printed on them. On the day, ride the cool-down lap at the end of each session gently, using the lever no more than needed, and park without holding the front brake on, so hot pads do not leave marks on the discs. Between sessions, look at the disc surface. Bluish colouring or fine cracks at the edge of the ring are reasons to stop and inspect before going out again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK077 for the XSR900 GP from 2024 to 2025. The front wheel carries two discs and the price covers one, so a full change on the XSR900 GP needs two. For the same bike, Accossato lists the DKS073, a floating disc without the Elite details. Pair new discs with new pads, and bed them in on the road before the first session on track.
Road Approval
The DK077 has no German ABE, and no type approval has been documented. Our offer is aimed at track days and racing.
