DescriptionThe whole story▼
A touring day on a Multistrada 1200 can easily run to eight or nine hours, and the left hand is busy for most of them: villages, fuel stops, road works, queues for the ferry. Each pull of the clutch is small, but a few hundred of them add up, and by late afternoon the difference between a well-placed lever and a badly placed one is in your forearm. The Accossato ESH011 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the Multistrada 1200, listed from 2010 to 2020, with adjustable reach and a choice of three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Multistrada 1200, 2010 to 2020, including the GT version
- Fits the original Ducati clutch mounting
- Distance to the grip adjustable
- Available as short, standard or long blade; standard approximately 138 mm
- CNC-machined, anodised aluminium in two tones
- Rigid construction, no hinge
- Supplied in Accossato's own box
- No German ABE documented, for the race track
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the ESH011 from aluminium and anodises it with a black hub and a coloured blade. Blue, gold, green and orange are available in every length, silver in short and standard, black and red in standard only. The hub carries the pivot and the reach adjuster; the blade is fixed to it and forms one stiff piece, so the effort you put into the lever goes into the clutch rather than into flex or play.
The Left Hand Over a Long Day
Clutch effort depends on where your fingers pull. The further they are from the pivot, the more leverage they have, which is why a long blade makes the same clutch feel lighter. On a bike that is used for long tours, the long ESH011 is therefore worth considering: every single pull becomes a little easier, and over a full day that is noticeable. The standard length stays closest to the feel of the original part.
Reach matters just as much. If the hand has to open wide before it can pull, the small muscles in the forearm do extra work every time. Bring the lever in until your fingers close around it comfortably with the hand still resting on the grip, then check that the clutch still frees completely at full pull. A lever that is set right also makes it easier to use two fingers for slow sections and the whole hand only where you really need it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list names three entries for the ESH011 on this bike: the Multistrada 1200 from 2010 to 2016, the Multistrada 1200 from 2010 to 2020, and the GT from 2010 to 2020. All of them use this clutch lever. For the brake side, Accossato lists the EDF099 and, for the GT, the EDF011.
Road Approval
Because no German ABE is documented, the ESH011 is sold for track use.
