DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Diavel is long, low and wide at the back, and every owner knows the moment when that shape has to be turned around in a narrow space. A tight car park, a sloping driveway or a crowded garage is where the clutch does the steering, feeding in just enough drive to keep the bike moving at walking pace. The Accossato ESH011 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the 2011 to 2018 Diavel, and its distance from the grip can be adjusted to the hand that has to do this work.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Ducati Diavel from 2011 to 2018
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable reach, set close to the pivot
- Three lengths: short, long and a standard version of approximately 138 mm
- Anodised aluminium, CNC-machined
- Black hub; blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green
- Fixed blade, no hinge
- Sold for track use, as no German ABE is documented
Construction and Material Quality
The ESH011 is cut from solid aluminium on CNC machines and then anodised. Anodising is not a coat laid on top of the metal: the coloured layer is formed out of the aluminium surface itself, which is why it does not chip like paint when a glove, a jacket zip or a garage wall brushes against the lever. Whatever colour you pick for the blade, the section around the pivot, where the reach is set, stays black. The blade itself is fixed, one continuous piece with no folding joint, so there is no play in the lever that could blur the engagement point.
Car Parks, Ramps and Garages
Moving a Diavel at walking pace is mostly clutch work. The bike rolls on a broad rear tyre and a long wheelbase, so it does not turn on the spot, and every manoeuvre becomes a series of short pushes of drive with the clutch half engaged. That gets tiring when the lever sits too far away, because the fingers are stretched the whole time they hold the friction point. Bringing the blade closer with the adjuster shortens the stretch. On a slope, where the right hand is busy with the front brake, the left hand also has to find the bite point without searching, and a lever that rests exactly where the fingers expect it makes the difference between a calm hill start and a hurried one.
Some riders like the long blade for this, since its extra length puts more leverage under the fingers and lightens the pull. Others stay with the standard length, which is closest to what Ducati fitted.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESH011 for the Diavel from 2011 to 2018 and names several versions of that period: the standard Diavel 1200, the Cromo of 2012 and 2013, and the Dark and the more touring-minded Strada of 2013 and 2014. On the right side of the bar, the EDF099 brake lever covers the same years and uses the same colour range, if you want both levers to match.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on record for this clutch lever. It is sold for circuit riding.
