DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered from aerospace-grade aluminium with stainless steel internals, the Arrow Indy-Race 71869AKN is a slip-on silencer built to the tolerances you would expect from a track-proven Italian exhaust house. The dark anodised canister and carbon end cap give the CBR 1000 RR SC77 a purposeful, race-bred aesthetic without a gram of compromise on structural integrity or longevity.
Key Features
- Lightweight aluminium canister with a dark finish — noticeably reduces unsprung mass compared to the OEM unit for sharper throttle response and improved corner-entry handling.
- Stainless steel internal components ensure exceptional heat resistance and corrosion durability across hard road and track use.
- Carbon end cap adds a premium, competition-grade visual detail while withstanding sustained high-temperature cycles.
- Supplied with a removable dB killer so you can tune the sound level to suit road riding or trackday regulations.
- E-number type approval included — fully road-legal for use on public highways without modification.
- Can be combined with an Arrow header to build a complete, fully matched Arrow exhaust system for maximum performance gains.
Build Quality and Materials
Arrow's Indy-Race line sits at the intersection of race specification and road practicality. The canister body is formed from high-grade aluminium alloy, chosen for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to the thermal cycling that destroys lesser materials over time. The dark surface treatment is not a simple paint — it is a durable, heat-stable finish that retains its appearance through prolonged high-load riding. Inside, every baffle and internal component is fabricated from stainless steel, eliminating the corrosion risk that affects unprotected mild steel internals and ensuring the flow characteristics remain consistent throughout the silencer's service life. The carbon fibre end cap is not merely decorative; it is a genuine weight-saving component that also acts as a thermal barrier at the hottest point of the canister.
Performance and Throttle Response
Reducing exhaust back-pressure through the more free-flowing Indy-Race canister delivers a measurable improvement in throttle response across the mid and upper rev range of the CBR 1000 RR's inline-four. The weight saving over the standard silencer contributes to a lower centre of gravity and reduced inertia through direction changes — details that matter on both the road and the circuit. To extract the full performance benefit and protect engine longevity, Arrow strongly recommends remapping the ECU after fitment. Running the standard fuelling map with a freer-flowing exhaust will leave performance on the table and may affect long-term reliability.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Arrow 71869AKN is designed exclusively for the Honda CBR 1000 RR SC77 covering model years 2017, 2018 and 2019. This silencer requires the Arrow mid-pipe 71679MI and is not compatible with the original Honda mid-pipe. It can be paired with an Arrow header to create a complete high-performance exhaust system.
- Fits: Honda CBR 1000 RR SC77 (2017–2019)
- Required mid-pipe: Arrow 71679MI (not compatible with OEM mid-pipe)
- Optional upgrade: combine with Arrow header for a full Arrow exhaust system
