DescriptionThe whole story▼

Even a sporty naked bike like the Kawasaki Z1000R spends plenty of time at low speed: leaving the garage, filtering through traffic, rolling into a car park. Accossato's AGPP102 rear pad in the Organic mixture is catalogued for the Z1000R of 2017 and 2018. It suits riders who want the rear brake to take up gently and quietly in these moments, and who prefer a pad that treats the rear disc kindly over the years.

Key Features

  • AGPP102 rear pads for the Kawasaki Z1000R, 2017 and 2018
  • Organic mixture, article AGPP102OR
  • Accossato: lasting performance, gentle on the disc
  • Progressive pedal for slow manoeuvres
  • Quiet in town traffic
  • Works straight away from cold
  • Also available on this plate as ST
  • No German approval held; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato sums up this compound as long-lived and disc-friendly. A rear brake on a naked bike is used often but seldom hard, so the gentle treatment of the rotor pays off over time. Accossato also says that its pads keep heat under control to limit fade and still stop the bike with authority. The Organic material is bonded to the AGPP102 plate.

The Quiet Side of a Sharp Bike

The Z1000R has a firm chassis and a lively throttle, which can make slow-speed riding a little tense. A light touch of rear brake while holding a steady throttle calms the bike down in queues and tight turns. An Organic pad with a soft, gradual response makes that technique easy, and it keeps quiet while doing so.

Clean the rear caliper when you service the chain, since lube and dirt collect there. When changing pads, clean the pistons before pushing them back, and press the pedal several times until it firms up. Check the rear pads each time you look at the chain.

Fitment and Compatibility

The Z 1000 R of 2017 and 2018 is catalogued by Accossato for AGPP102 at the rear; our garage calls it the Kawasaki Z1000R. The front pad for those years is AGPA106, and no disc is listed. One box equips the single rear caliper. Compare with the old pads before fitting.

Road Approval

We hold no ABE or approval document for AGPP102OR. It is supplied for competition.
