DescriptionThe whole story▼
The ZX-6R is Kawasaki's four-cylinder middleweight sports bike, built around its 636 engine, and the versions of 2019 to 2024 are frequent guests in the supersport groups of track days. It likes revs, rewards precise riding and tends to attract owners who are meticulous about their routine. The first minutes of a track-day morning show why that matters, because warming up an engine and filling a tank are two jobs that should never overlap. For the ZX-6R of these years, Accossato lists the FC126, an aluminium quick-release tank cap with a coloured pin on its pawl.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki ZX-6R, 2019 to 2024
- Listed for the ZX-6R 636 of 2019 to 2023 and the 2024 model
- Aluminium, CNC-machined throughout
- Quick-closing pawl
- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl sold separately if damaged
- No German ABE documented; circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC126 is shaped entirely from aluminium on CNC machines, and Accossato describes it as robust and durable, with a new design. It closes by means of a quick-closing pawl, which gives quick access to the ZX-6R's tank and shuts it again without delay. The pin fitted to the pawl is available in six colours, chosen with your order. Accossato also sells the pawl on its own, so a damaged one can be renewed while the rest of the cap stays in use.
Before the Engine Warms Up
Many riders start their engines early on a track-day morning and leave them idling on the stands while they pull on their leathers, and a ZX-6R with tyre warmers on and an engine ticking over is a common sight in the paddock at eight o'clock. That is exactly the moment to keep the fuel can away. Refuelling belongs before the warm-up, with the engine cold and the exhaust at air temperature, or later in the day once the bike has stood for a while after a session. Plan the morning in that order: fuel first, cap closed and checked, tank top wiped, then the engine started and left to warm. If you forget and the engine is already running, switch it off and wait until the headers and silencer have cooled noticeably before you open the FC126. It costs a few minutes, a small price for keeping fuel and heat apart. The same rule applies to any helper who offers to top up the bike while you are at the riders' briefing.
Fitment and Compatibility
Two Accossato entries lead to the FC126 for this bike, the ZX-6R 636 of 2019 to 2023 and the ZX-6R 636 of 2024, so we list it for 2019 to 2024. For the ZX-6R of 2013 to 2017 the list gives the FC143 instead, and 2018 has no entry at all. With us the FC126 also appears for the Ninja 400 and the Ninja H2 SX.
Road Approval
The FC126 has no German ABE and no parts certificate on file, so we sell it for track use. The ZX-6R's original cap, normally opened with the ignition key, stays in place for public roads.
