DescriptionThe whole story▼
Of the three Scrambler 1100 versions Ducati launched for 2018, the Special was the one with the most classic look. Its owners tend to care about details, and that includes the details of safety when the bike goes to a circuit for the day: what stands next to the fuel can matters as much as the can itself. For the Scrambler 1100 Special of 2018 and 2019 the Accossato cap is the FC105, milled completely from aluminium, with a quick-closing pawl and a pin available in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special, 2018 and 2019
- CNC-machined aluminium, the entire cap
- Quick-closing pawl for fast refuelling
- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl can be replaced on its own
- New design, robust and durable according to Accossato
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC105 is machined by Accossato on CNC equipment, entirely out of aluminium, and the company describes it as robust and durable. The shape is new. A quick-closing pawl does the work at the filler, opening and closing the tank of the Scrambler 1100 Special quickly, and the pin on it is offered in six colours. If the pawl is damaged, a new one can be bought by itself.
What Stands Next to the Fuel Can
Fuel fires at circuits are rare, and most of those that do happen start small: a spill on a hot exhaust, a can knocked over near a heater, a careless cigarette. What decides the outcome is usually what is within reach in the first seconds. Many riders therefore keep a small fire extinguisher suited to fuel fires in their paddock space, placed a few steps from the fuel can, so that it can still be reached if the can itself is the problem. Check that it is within its service date and that everyone in your group knows where it stands. Beside the extinguisher go a bag of absorbent granules or a spill mat and a couple of cloths. With that in place, refuelling the Scrambler 1100 Special follows the usual order: engine off, bike upright, pawl open, fuel in through a funnel, cap closed and checked. The extinguisher will very probably never be used. That is the point of it: it only has to be there.
Fitment and Compatibility
Two model years of the Scrambler 1100 Special, 2018 and 2019, carry the FC105 on Accossato's application list. Inter-Pace offers the same cap for the standard Scrambler 1100, the Panigale V4 and the DesertX. Before you order, find your bike on that list. Then fit the cap on a cold engine, see that the seal sits evenly and, once fuel is in, look for any trace of it around the edge.
Road Approval
The FC105 is supplied without a German ABE and without a documented expert report, and so it is a part for the circuit. The Special's factory cap normally locks with the ignition key; keep it for the road, where this cap is not a direct replacement.
