The KTM 500 EXC-F is the largest four-stroke in KTM's EXC enduro line, and in slow, technical terrain its torque is both a gift and a handful. Crawling up a rocky creek bed, the rider controls that pull almost entirely with the clutch. Accossato's C7283 is a folding clutch lever for the 500 EXC-F from 2012 to 2022, machined from Ergal 7075, with a long blade for four fingers and a joint that allows it to fold when the bike tips over among the boulders.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato was founded in 1969 in Moncalieri, near Turin, as a builder of competition motorcycles, and its off-road levers are still made in Italy. The C7283 is milled from a solid billet of Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy chosen for strength, low weight and reliability. It consists of a dark base, which stays on the pivot, and a coloured blade joined to it by the folding joint. Clutch levers in this range are the longer design, and this one gives four fingers a full grip on the blade.
Feeding Torque Through a Creek Bed
Slow, rocky ground is where a big four-stroke asks the most of your left hand. In a dry creek bed or a boulder-strewn gully, the 500 EXC-F would happily climb in a low gear at little more than tickover, but only if its drive reaches the rear tyre smoothly. Riders manage this much as trials riders do. The clutch is slipped to soften each surge, pulled in for a moment when the rear tyre meets a slick rock and let out again the moment the tyre grips. It is fine, constant work, and a blade the whole hand can use makes it easier to keep up for a full section.
The same terrain punishes mistakes at walking pace. A foot misses the ground between two boulders, the bike leans past the point of rescue and lands on the left, clutch lever against stone. With a solid lever that usually means a bent or broken blade and a hard ride out. The C7283 can fold forward on its joint and take the knock instead. It is not a guarantee, yet it gives you a real chance of carrying on, which in a creek bed far from any track is worth a great deal.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists two version groups of the KTM 500 EXC-F for the C7283, 2012 to 2013 and 2014 to 2022, and it fits the original clutch mount on both. The folding B8283 brake lever for the same bike is listed from 2014 to 2022, so the 2012 and 2013 models can be equipped on the left side only. Black, blue and orange are offered on both levers; red is clutch-only.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for the C7283. On a 500 EXC-F registered for the road, this lever is not approved for public roads; it is made for off-road and competition use.
