DescriptionThe whole story▼
Early starts are part of riding: the Sunday run that begins before breakfast, the trip that leaves at first light to beat the traffic. On a Z1000 R, a litre-class four, a quiet departure from a sleeping street depends mostly on the left hand, because the bike has to roll away at low revs without a stall and without a burst of throttle. The Accossato ESK750 is a clutch lever for the Z1000 R of 2017 to 2019, milled from aluminium and anodised. It goes on the original clutch mounting, and its span can be set to suit your fingers.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Kawasaki Z1000 R, model years 2017 to 2019
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Span adjustable by an adjuster beside the pivot
- Short, standard (about 138 mm) or long blade, depending on the colour
- Seven blade colours on a black anodised hub
- Milled aluminium, one rigid piece
- Supplied in its own Accossato box
- No German ABE documented, sold for the track
Construction and Material Quality
Anodising is an electrochemical treatment rather than a coating. On the ESK750 it converts the aluminium's surface into a hard oxide that takes up the colour, which is why the finish neither peels nor chips the way paint can. A deep gouge will still reach bare metal, but the daily rubbing of gloves leaves little trace. Before that step the lever for the Z1000 R is CNC-machined. Its hub, with the pivot and span adjuster, always comes out black, and the blade carries the colour. No hinge interrupts the blade, so the lever moves as one solid part.
Leaving Quietly at Dawn
A quiet getaway is a matter of doing little, slowly. Let the engine settle at idle for a moment, select first gently, then ease the clutch out until the bike begins to creep, with the throttle barely open or not at all. Hold that creep to the end of the street before letting the Z1000 R rev. It sounds simple, but it asks for fine control over the first part of the clutch engagement, and that is where lever position matters. Set the ESK750 so the take-up arrives with your fingers slightly curled; there they have the most feel, and the release can be spread over a longer, calmer movement. The long blade helps further, because with the fingers further from the pivot the same clutch movement is spread over more finger travel. It is made in blue, gold, green and orange, while black and red come as standard levers only.
Fitment and Compatibility
Model years in Accossato's list: 2017 to 2019, under the name Z 1000 R. The ESK750 replaces the stock lever at the Z1000 R's original clutch mounting. The brake side is covered by the EDF088, which is listed for the same motorcycle over a longer span, 2017 to 2023; for the later bikes, Accossato lists the ESK828 clutch lever under the Z1000 R Edition name, also up to 2023. Both levers share the black hub and the colour range if you want a matched pair.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the ESK750; the lever is therefore sold for circuit use.
