Fitted to a motorcycle, a medium is only as good as the joint around it, and a small leak is worse than it sounds: unfiltered air is not filtered slightly less well, it is not filtered at all. Where air is no longer enough, wash it in tepid water with a little mild detergent and rinse until the water leaves clean. Then the slow part: it dries in open air and nothing else, since heat guns, radiators and flames all destroy polyester, and it must be dry through before it goes back — a mat still damp loads far faster than a dry one.
