Every argument for a racing filter arrives at the same door: the airbox has to be opened, and opened often. Racing picks a coarser cloth because the machine is stripped to a short schedule, not because it can be left alone for longer. The F3 675 is a fully faired supersport, and reaching its filter costs more work than on any other machine sharing this part number. That is the fact this page has to be honest about before any figure is quoted.
Key Features
- The racing member of the P08 family — polyester, woven in one layer, run dry throughout its life
- 85 µm between the threads and 15,000 l/m²/sec of rated flow
- No oil when new and none after a wash, so there is no re-oiling step to get wrong
- About twice the filtering surface of other performance filters
- A straight exchange for the factory element; box, ducting and mapping stay as MV Agusta left them
- Serviced with a compressor and refitted; two-year guarantee from the date of sale
The schedule the medium takes for granted
An 85 µm weave passes more of the fine fraction than an 80 µm one, and it is allowed to because everything around it in racing is short: the sessions, the intervals, the gap between one strip-down and the next. Transfer that medium to a calendar written in kilometres, with a fairing standing in front of it, and the assumption quietly stops holding. Nothing about the part breaks. It simply pays out its filtration side continuously while its flow side waits for conditions that rarely turn up.
What tends to happen behind bodywork
Panels come off, fasteners get counted and laid out, the tail of the tank goes up — so the inspection gets folded into the next job that had to be done anyway. That is not carelessness; it is what always happens when access is expensive. Read it honestly and the decision resolves itself. An F3 675 used on the road, with the airbox opened perhaps once a year, is better served by the standard P08 at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec, which asks a fraction of the money. An F3 675 that lives at circuits, where the bodywork is off between sessions in any case, is exactly where CM135S F1-85 stands on firm ground.
Care and cleaning
The cleaning itself was never the awkward half of this job on a faired bike. Compressed air, held to the clean side and directed outward, returns the weave to something close to its original state in a couple of minutes. Deposits that survive that come out in hand-warm water with a mild detergent; keep rinsing until nothing further colours the water. Drying is unhurried and passive — open air only, never a heat source and never a naked flame, since heat is what breaks polyester fibre. Refit it dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
