Fifty-One More Cubic Centimetres
Kawasaki took the Ninja 400's parallel twin out to 451 cc, revised the intake and left almost everything else alone. It is a modest change on paper and a useful one in practice, because the extra torque arrives exactly where a rider on a small bike spends their time.
Why the Switch Carries Over
The same part number fits the 400 and the 500, which reflects how little of the chassis Kawasaki changed. The handlebar interface, the connector and the clamp geometry are identical, and only the engine and the badge really separate the two motorcycles.
A First Bike That Gets Modified
Machines in this class belong to riders who are enthusiastic and often on their first motorcycle, and they are personalised more thoroughly than anything else in a showroom. Levers, bar ends and mirrors go on early; the switch housing is noticed once everything around it has already been changed.
Universal Holes
The plate accepts both aligned and offset master cylinder clamps. On a bike where the front brake is the component most likely to be upgraded, that keeps the two decisions independent of each other.
Built Above the Class
Ergal 7075 milled from solid with sealed switch elements, which is the same construction JetPrime uses on superbike switchgear. On a 451 cc motorcycle that is either excessive or exactly right, depending on how long the owner means to keep it.
Sealed for Year-Round Use
Small motorcycles are disproportionately parked outside and ridden through winter. The elements inside are sealed units and the body has no moulded joint, which is the specification that actually decides how the controls feel in the third year.
