DescriptionThe whole story▼
Clip-ons are a component where the numbers matter more than the marketing, because every millimetre changes where your wrists end up. The Bonamici SM50B set for the ZX-10R runs a 50 mm clamp diameter, 16 mm of offset, 245 mm of tube with 225 mm of that usable, and 6.5 degrees of downward inclination. The B in the name means non-raised: rise is zero. These bars put you lower and further forward than standard, and they do it with figures you can check against your own setup before you order.
Key Features
- Zero rise. The bar sits at fork-tube height rather than being lifted, which drops the upper body and shifts weight onto the front tyre.
- 6.5 degrees of downward angle, so the wrist sits in a neutral line rather than being cocked back at the grip.
- 16 mm offset gives room around the tank and top yoke at full lock and keeps the levers clear.
- 245 mm tube length with 225 mm usable — enough to position switchgear, lever clamp and bar end without running out of bar.
- Machined from solid high-strength aluminium and anodised for chemical resistance. Made in Italy.
Reading the Geometry Before You Buy
Riders usually order clip-ons on feel and regret it on the third ride. The useful approach is the other way round: measure where your hands are now, decide which direction you want to move, then pick the part whose numbers get you there. A 0 mm rise with 6.5 degrees of drop is a track-oriented position — lower, more load on the front, more commitment from the rider. If your ZX-10R is mostly a road bike and your wrists already complain in traffic, that is worth knowing before the box is opened.
Why 50 mm
The clamp diameter is dictated by the fork, not by preference. The current ZX-10R runs 43 mm tubes inside 50 mm upper fork legs, and the clip-on clamps to the outer diameter. SM50B is machined for that 50 mm fit, which is also why the same bar appears in Bonamici's listings for the CBR1000RR-R, the YZF-R1 and the GSX-R1000 — different bikes, identical clamping dimension.
Fitment and Compatibility
Listed by the manufacturer for:
- Kawasaki ZX-10 R — model years 2021 through 2026
The 2004-2020 ZX-10R takes the SM50 set instead.
Road Approval
No ABE or EC type-approval is published for these clip-ons. Handlebars are a component German inspectors look at closely, so if the bike is registered, clarify the position with your TÜV or DEKRA examiner before fitting.
