DescriptionThe whole story▼

Accossato also offers its ceramic racing compound for the Kawasaki Z1000 SE of 2014 to 2016: AGPA109 in ZXC ceramic racing. It is a specialist pad for owners who race the SE or use it for serious track testing, and who want to compare the feel of a ceramic compound with the other racing options. It is designed for circuit use and set-up work, not for everyday riding on public roads.

Key Features

  • AGPA109 front pads for the Kawasaki Z1000 SE, 2014 to 2016
  • ZXC ceramic racing compound, article AGPA109ZXC
  • Accossato: a ceramic mixture ideal for racing
  • Another pad character to compare on track
  • For set-up days and racing
  • Plate also offered as ST, EV1 and EV2
  • No German approval held; for competition

Construction and Material Quality

The Italian maker labels ZXC as ceramic and states plainly that it is ideal for racing; road use is not part of the brief. Accossato speaks about its pad range as a whole in similar terms: modest operating temperatures that keep fade away, a slow rate of wear and a lot of retardation when the lever is pulled hard. On an SE this ceramic friction material is applied to the AGPA109 plate, the same carrier used for the other compounds of this pad.

Comparing Compounds on a Test Day

A test day is the right place to find out which pad suits a rider and a circuit. On the Z1000 SE, swapping between racing compounds changes how the bike stops and turns in, and how much confidence the rider has at the end of the straight. The ceramic option adds a further reference to that comparison.

Label each set, write down the conditions and lap times, and clean the pistons before pressing them back for each swap. Keep the discs free of grease, pump the lever until it is firm and ride the first lap gently so the fresh pads can settle.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA109 for the front of the Z 1000 SE from 2014 to 2016; in our garage this is the Kawasaki Z1000 SE. The rear pad AGPP102 covers the same years, and no disc is catalogued for the SE. The front end has two calipers, so two boxes are needed.

Road Approval

There is no ABE or approval mark for AGPA109ZXC in our possession. It is sold for racing.

Scope of Delivery
