DescriptionThe whole story▼

Almost every K 1600 GT owner dreads the same moment: the bike is on its side, and it has to come back up. BMW's six-cylinder tourer, listed here from 2010 to 2024, is one of the heaviest motorcycles most riders will ever own, and lifting it takes technique rather than brute strength. When it tips over to the left, the clutch lever is usually the first part to touch the ground. Accossato offers the AGS194 as its replacement: a black clutch lever in the form of the one BMW fitted.

Key Features

  • Replacement clutch lever in original form for the BMW K 1600 GT
  • Accossato lists it for 2010 to 2024, including the GT Sport of 2018
  • Black
  • Left handlebar, hydraulic clutch
  • A value-for-money spare from Accossato
  • Accossato credits its production process with more resistance after damage or impacts
  • One lever
  • No German ABE or test mark; for racing and competition

Construction and Material Quality

This is a replacement of the original type, and its job on the K 1600 GT is to make the left side of the bar look as it did before the bike went over. Accossato developed its replacement levers around value for money and states that its production method gives them higher resistance after damage or a fall. The AGS194 is black, in keeping with Accossato's list, and the company publishes no further technical details.

Lifting a Heavy Tourer

Switch off the ignition first and, if the bike is lying on its right side, put the side stand down so that it has something to land on when it comes upright. Put the bike in gear so it cannot roll. Then stand with your back to the seat, crouch down, take hold of the handlebar grip with one hand and a solid part at the rear, such as a grab handle, with the other, and push upwards with your legs in small steps, keeping your back straight. On a K 1600 GT a second person makes the lift much safer, so ask for help if anyone is nearby. Once the bike is upright and on its stand, check for leaks and look at the clutch lever and the rest of the left side. After fitting the AGS194, draw the lever in slowly: it should push the master cylinder piston without catching and spring back on its own. Compare the free play with the handbook, see that the clutch switch registers the lever, and engage first gear with the lever held in to confirm that the bike does not pull forward.

Fitment and Compatibility

The AGS194 appears on Accossato's list for the K 1600 GT over a long period, 2010 to 2024: ABS bikes up to 2016, the ABS bikes of 2017 to 2022, the most recent listed years 2023 and 2024, and a GT Sport of 2018. No second replacement clutch lever is named for this model, while the right-hand side is covered by the black AGD305 from 2015 onwards. We have the same lever in the shop for three other BMWs: the R nineT and both the K 1300 R and K 1300 S. Four CNC levers from Accossato are listed for the K 1600 GT as tuning parts, two per side: ESC075 and ESB002 on the left, EDB077 and EDB001 on the right.

Road Approval

We have not received any approval documents for the AGS194, so we cannot refer to a German ABE or a test mark; the lever is offered for racing and competition use.
