DescriptionThe whole story

Owners of an NINJA H2 tend to find their front brake's limit on a road they do not know. The reference is the B005 - 42.0 mm of friction height over 102.2 mm of length, on the Brembo fitment the NINJA H2 uses. The mixture in this B005 is EXR: up to twenty percent more force in the second phase of braking.

Key Features

  • The B005 is made by Okada Corporation in Japan, the manufacturer behind ZCOO's endurance-racing programme
  • Part number Z-B005-EXR, EAN 4950545771773
  • Suits the NINJA H2 on the road as readily as on a circuit, which is what separates the ceramic platform from a pure race sinter
  • Even pressure distribution across the 102.2 by 42.0 mm face from new to the wear limit
  • Low noise and low rotor scoring, which on an NINJA H2 means the discs outlast several sets of pads
  • Quiet in normal use and low on dust, so the NINJA H2 does not pay for its brakes in wheel cleaning

Construction and Material Quality

The B005 shares its construction with the pads ZCOO supplies to endurance teams. Expansion gaps between the friction blocks let the B005 material grow into the gaps when hot instead of building stress against itself. The effect is a B005 that presents the same geometry to the disc near the wear limit as it did new.

Performance and Feel

For an NINJA H2 the interesting number is not the first bite but what is left at the end of the zone. On the Kawasaki NINJA H2 that means a lever which still has something to say at the end of the zone. Which matters most on an NINJA H2, where the rider's own weight is part of the braking load.

Fitment and Compatibility

ZCOO catalogues the B005 for the NINJA H2 of 2015 to 2021. Front axle only; the B005 has no rear counterpart in the ZCOO programme. The same B005 shape covers 117 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 102.2 mm length and 42.0 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
