The Layout Is the Achievement

Almost every aftermarket system for the MT-07 moves the silencer to the side of the bike. It is the straightforward way to build one: more room, fewer packaging constraints, easier to make the numbers work.

Spark took the harder route and kept the exhaust low, where Yamaha put it. That meant fitting a stainless collector, a catalyst and a pre-silencer box into the space under the engine and still finding room for the Grid-O behind it. The bike keeps its own silhouette; only the sound and the throttle response change.

Over Two Horsepower, With the Certificate

The performance figure is worth reading carefully: over 2 hp more, with a fuller response across the entire power curve, in the homologated configuration. Not with the db killer out, not on a track map — as delivered and as certified.

On a 73 hp twin, two horsepower is a real percentage. The more useful part is the mid-range: the pre-silencer box was designed as a tuned volume, not just a noise-reduction chamber.

The Box, and the Voice

The silencing box is what makes the low-mount layout possible and what shapes the sound. Spark designed it to bring out the CP2 twin's particular voice — deep, dark and assertive rather than loud.

The MT-07 engine has always sounded better than its price suggests. This system is built to make that audible without pushing the bike outside the noise rules.

Details You Will Look At

The titanium mesh of the Grid-O develops intense blue hues as it heats, which is a property of the material rather than a coating — it deepens over the life of the exhaust. The TIG welds on the collector are left visible for the same reason: they are the part of the article that shows how it was made.

Euro 5+, and the Euro 5 Bikes Too

The system is homologated to Euro 5+ and remains fully compatible with the previous Euro 5 versions of these motorcycles. One article number covers the platform from 2021 forward, which is unusual and is worth knowing if you are buying for an earlier bike.

One Note for R7 Owners

On the 2026 R7 the lower fairing must be removed to fit this system. Spark states it and we repeat it here, because it is the kind of detail that turns a straightforward installation into an argument on a Saturday afternoon.

On the MT-07, the XSR700 and the Tracer there is no such requirement.
