Shims 8/15/0.15, Öhlins part number 00185-15. Outer diameter sets the lever the oil works against; thickness sets how hard it resists.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 00185-15
- Inner Diameter 8 mm
- Thickness 0.15 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
- Outer Diameter 15 mm
What It Is
Öhlins gives it as 8 mm, 15 mm, 0.15 mm; nothing about that is approximate. A stack combines several diameters so the curve changes progressively rather than in steps. Outer diameter sets the lever the oil works against; thickness sets how hard it resists. Suspension technicians keep these in stock by size because a revalve means changing several at once.
Genuine Service Part
Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on.
Identifying the Right Part
Part number 00185-15 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Öhlins states inner diameter 8 mm, outer diameter 15 mm, thickness 0.15 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Shim thickness is measured in hundredths of a millimetre because that is the resolution at which damping force changes. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different curves.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
