DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Dorsoduro 1200 usually spends the winter the way many big fun bikes do: parked under a cover, battery on a charger, waiting for dry roads and warmer mornings. When spring arrives, the first checks go to tyres and battery, and the front brake gets a squeeze. The rear brake reservoir rarely receives more than a glance, even though its fluid has aged through the cold months as well. For that rear reservoir Accossato offers the TS012, made of anodised aluminium and listed for the Dorsoduro 1200 from 2010 to 2016.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, 2010 to 2016
- Replaces the cap on the original rear reservoir
- Aluminium, shaped on CNC machines, anodised
- Seven colours: gold, silver, black, blue, red, orange, green
- Accossato oil filler cap FP001 and clutch cover FP007 listed for the same bike
- Check fitment on Accossato's application list
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium, CNC machining and an anodised finish are the ingredients of the TS012, and the anodising also provides the colour: gold, silver, black, blue, red, orange or green. Accossato shapes the cap to suit the original rear reservoir of each bike on its list, which leaves the rest of the rear circuit exactly as Aprilia built it. Once the old cap is off, look at the rubber diaphragm or gasket that was under it, and fit a new one if it is cracked.
The Spring Check
Before the first ride of the year, give the rear brake of the Dorsoduro 1200 the same attention as the front. Stand the bike upright, on a paddock stand if you have one, so the reservoir sits level and the reading is honest. The fluid should lie between the two marks. Look at its colour too: fresh fluid is light, and a dark tone suggests it has been in the system for a long time. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it pulls water from the air, and it keeps doing so while the bike is parked. If the change interval in the owner's manual has passed, have the fluid renewed; a new cap is a good occasion for that job, but it never replaces it. If you fit the TS012 yourself, lay a cloth over the paint and bodywork around it, keep the reservoir open briefly, tighten the cap gently and rinse any spill off with water. Then press the pedal a few times at a standstill and make sure it feels firm before you roll out of the garage.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the Dorsoduro 1200 from 2010 to 2016 for the TS012, as a cap for the original rear reservoir. Our catalogue carries the identical part for the Ducati Desert X, the Hypermotard 950 and the Benelli Leoncino 500. On this Dorsoduro, the engine's oil filler and the clutch master cylinder can wear Accossato caps as well, the FP001 and the FP007. Please confirm your model year on the list before you order.
Road Approval
We have no approval paperwork for the TS012, whether an ABE or a test mark, and offer it for track and competition use.
