DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ride a Scrambler 1100 far enough and the weather will turn. The big Scrambler invites long, unhurried days on country roads, and on those days the rain gear usually travels rolled up under a strap or in a tail bag. The trouble starts at the roadside, when the rider hops on one leg, wrestles with overtrousers and leans against a bike that is only resting on its side stand. For the Scrambler 1100, Accossato lists its TP090 crash pads for 2018 and 2019: CNC-machined aluminium with an insert anodised in colour.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Ducati Scrambler 1100, listed for 2018 and 2019
- Accossato TP090, two pads in the pack
- Body CNC-machined from aluminium
- Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Screw cover in the insert colour as an option
- Drilling may be needed on some bikes: please ask us before ordering
- No German ABE documented; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the TP090 from aluminium on CNC equipment and fits each pad with an anodised insert. You choose its colour from six: blue, green, black, red, silver and gold. A screw cover anodised in the same shade can be ordered with the pads, or the fixing can stay visible for a plainer look. The pack contains two pads. On the Scrambler 1100 they are meant to be what touches the ground first if the bike tips over, which can spare the frame and the parts beside them some of the damage. A pad that has taken a hard knock is replaced.
Rain Gear at the Roadside
Most riders put on waterproofs too late and in the wrong place. Stop before the rain starts in earnest, and choose a spot with firm, level ground, well away from passing traffic: a lay-by, a bus shelter or the canopy of a fuel station. Leave the Scrambler 1100 in first gear with the bars turned towards the stand, and never use it as a support while you dress. Sit on a wall or a kerb instead, pull the trousers over your boots there, and put the jacket on while standing on both feet. A verge that looks solid can soften quickly in the wet, so check that the stand has not started to sink before you climb back on. Wet gloves are hard to pull over damp hands; keep a spare pair in the tail bag. Once on the move, remember that painted lines and metal covers lose grip first. If the bike does go over at the roadside, look at the pads before you ride off.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the TP090 for the Scrambler 1100 from 2018 to 2019, and our listing follows those years. According to Accossato, some motorcycles need the fairing drilled for its crash pads, but the list does not say which. The Scrambler 1100 has little bodywork, yet to be sure, please ask us before ordering whether anything has to be drilled on your bike. The PP018 rear axle sliders are also listed for the Scrambler 1100. In our shop, the TP090 appears for the Monster 797 and the Hypermotard 950 as well.
Road Approval
The TP090 pads come without an ABE or test report that we could provide, so our shop lists them for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
Two TP090 crash pads with the insert colour you select; the matching screw covers come only with the version that includes them.
