DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of Monster 1200 owners discover the circuit sooner or later, and a track day on a big naked bike teaches a great deal about braking. Accossato's RA002 is a folding front brake lever for the 2016 to 2020 Monster 1200 with one unusual extra: a 90-degree remote adjuster. With it the lever can be reset on the move by the left hand, the right stays on the twistgrip, and nobody has to pull into the pit lane to change the setting.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever with 90-degree remote adjuster for the Monster 1200, 2016 to 2020
- Lever setting changed with the left hand while riding
- Holder available in 35 mm or 60 mm
- Fits the original brake master cylinder
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, black base
- Blade in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red or silver
- RST lightening cut-out or plain blade
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The RA002 follows the layout of Accossato's other folding levers: a black anodised base at the pivot and a coloured blade joined to it by a hinge, both machined from aluminium. What sets it apart is where the adjustment happens. The lever works with what Accossato describes as a 90-degree remote adjuster, and the holder for it is offered in two sizes, 35 mm or 60 mm. Blade colours are black, blue, gold, green, orange, red and silver, each with or without the RST cut-out.
From the Cold First Session to the Warm Last One
A track day is long. The first session often starts on a cool surface, with tyres and brakes that have not yet come up to temperature and a rider who is still finding lines and braking points. By the afternoon the tarmac is warm, the pace has risen and the braking comes harder and later. It would be surprising if the lever setting that felt right on the Monster 1200 at nine in the morning still felt right at four in the afternoon.
With a conventional adjuster, every change means pulling in, stopping and reaching for the lever. On a Monster 1200 fitted with the RA002, you can make that change on a straight with your left hand and feel the result at the next braking zone. Practise the movement in the garage first, with gloves on, so it becomes automatic. And because the blade itself can fold, a low-speed slide into the gravel does not automatically mean the end of the day for the lever.
Fitment and Compatibility
The RA002 is listed for the Monster 1200 of 2016 to 2020 and fits the original brake master cylinder. The same years are covered by the LV013 folding brake lever without remote adjuster and by the LV015 folding clutch lever. The Monster 1200 R and 1200 S have separate listings in our shop.
Road Approval
The RA002 has no documented German ABE. It is a part for the race track, which is also what Accossato designed it for.
