The RR is the version bought by people who intend to use it. Better suspension and a sharper specification are only worth paying for if the bike goes somewhere that rewards them, which usually means track days. Over a single fast lap, the condition of the element is almost irrelevant. Over a full day of them, in dust kicked up by thirty other machines, it becomes one of the small variables that separates a bike that feels the same at four o'clock from one that quietly does not. The Sprint Filter P08 PM164S is the washable element for the standard airbox.
Key Features
- Washable and reusable — compressed air between sessions is the normal service
- Goes into the standard airbox as a direct replacement, with no modification, no remap and no change to homologation
- Never oiled, so there is nothing to migrate downstream onto sensors or throttle bodies
- The weave starts at threads of ø 22 microns and holds a calibrated aperture; pulp is pressed, this is woven
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters, spread across the panel
- Two years of warranty, counted from the date of purchase
The late sessions are the honest ones
A circuit is a dustier environment than most riders expect, and the load a filter picks up over a day is disproportionate to the distance covered. None of it announces itself. The bike does not stumble or misfire; it simply gives back a little less of what it gave in the morning, at the moment fatigue makes that hardest to attribute correctly. Being able to take the element out between sessions, blow it through from the clean side with compressed air and refit it in minutes means the machine is judged on how it is set up, not on what it has swallowed since breakfast.
Paddock maintenance, not a parts counter
Nothing about servicing this element needs a dealer, a delivery or a plan made a week in advance. Compressed air is available at every circuit; water and a mild detergent handle a genuinely hard day. Because the medium is dry, there is no oiling stage to get wrong under time pressure — the element is refitted dry, as it always is. Sprint Filter designs the P08 to last the life of the motorcycle, so a bike that sees regular track use is not steadily consuming elements to stay honest.
Care and cleaning
Between sessions it is compressed air and nothing else: from the clean side, directed outwards, refitted dry, done in the time it takes to check tyre pressures. At the end of a hard day, lukewarm water and a mild detergent do the rest — rinse until the water runs clear, then leave it to dry fully in air rather than pushing it along with heat or a flame, either of which ruins the medium. It goes back dry because there is no oiling stage to wait for. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
