The Staggered Clamp
Ducati runs two arrangements and this matches the offset one. No listing image distinguishes them and the handlebar settles it in under a minute.
Shaped for the Reach
The Diavel's bar sweeps back and puts the wrists at an angle no sports bike produces. The mounting geometry is drawn around that position rather than adapted to it.
Only the Complete Block
Ducati sells nothing smaller because the switches are moulded in during manufacture. One hesitant contact therefore retires the whole assembly.
Resistance Before Failure
A wet terminal oxidises and adds resistance rather than breaking. The control works, then works intermittently, and the decline runs across the better part of a year.
The Same Part Every Time
Machined components hold their dimensions across a whole run. Injection tools wear, and late parts do not sit the way early ones did on the same clamp.
Nothing to Fade
No printed legends on a machined body. On a motorcycle carrying this much exposed metal, a component that ages at the same rate as everything around it looks right for longer.
A Hundred and Sixty-Eight Horsepower
More than the twin it replaced and considerably smoother with it. The V4 turned the Diavel from an oddity into something genuinely easy to live with.
Sixty Thousand Kilometres
Between valve services. For anyone using a Diavel the way it was intended, that single figure changes the arithmetic of ownership completely.
A Chassis Built Around the Engine
Ducati did not adapt the 1260's frame. The V4 got a new one, which is why it came out lighter despite carrying two more cylinders.
Two Hundred and Forty Millimetres
The rear tyre is wider than most cars use and the chassis still turns properly, which required a great deal of quiet engineering in the swingarm and the geometry. It remains the most impressive and least advertised thing about the whole motorcycle.
