DescriptionThe whole story▼

The F 800 GT is BMW's middleweight sport tourer: a parallel twin with a belt final drive, a fairing that keeps the wind off on long stretches, and a chassis that enjoys a brisk country road. Brisk country roads involve overtaking, and not every overtake goes ahead. The ones you abandon are the ones in which the brake lever matters most. The EDB001 from Accossato is machined from aluminium for the F 800 GT of 2013 to 2018; it replaces the brake lever on the original master cylinder, and its distance to the grip can be adjusted.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the BMW F 800 GT, 2013 to 2018
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Distance to the grip adjustable
  • Standard blade about 138 mm; short and long in selected colours
  • Milled aluminium, anodised black hub and coloured blade
  • Seven colours: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver, green
  • Fixed, hinge-free blade
  • Supplied in its own Accossato box

Construction and Material Quality

A brake lever that is needed in a hurry should do nothing unexpected. The EDB001 has no folding joint and no loose parts: Accossato machines it from aluminium on CNC equipment as one continuous piece, then anodises it in two tones. The black hub holds the pivot bore and the reach adjuster, and the blade is finished in the colour you prefer. Because the colour is formed in the anodised surface itself, it does not peel where gloved fingers rub against the blade.

When an Overtake Has to Wait

You pull out, the road ahead looks clear, and then a car appears over a crest, or the lorry you are passing starts to drift towards the centre line. The right decision is to abandon the overtake: close the throttle, brake and tuck back in behind. That braking comes at an awkward moment, with the throttle held wide open a second earlier, the bike perhaps leaning slightly as you change lines, and your attention split between the vehicle ahead and the gap behind it. The time your fingers need to find the lever counts here, and so does the ability to brake firmly without upsetting the bike as it moves back across the lane. A lever set far out makes the hand open wide first; one set to meet the fingers at the first joint lets you go straight from throttle to brake. Set the EDB001 with that in mind on your F 800 GT, and think the move through before you need it, so that it happens without hesitation.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists this lever for the F 800 GT for 2013 to 2018. It mounts on the original BMW master cylinder and replaces the stock lever without any other change to the brake. The matching clutch lever for the F 800 GT is the ESB008, listed for the same years and made in the same colours, so the handlebar can be finished as a pair.

Road Approval

German road approval has not been documented for this lever. We sell it for circuit use.
