DescriptionThe whole story▼
The STM FDU-S100 slipper clutch is a race-derived upgrade engineered specifically for the Ducati Panigale V4 and V4 S. Built around STM's patented ball-ramp mechanism, it delivers the precise, progressive back-torque limiting performance that separates a composed corner entry from a catastrophic highside — whether you're chasing lap times at the track or pressing hard on challenging road routes.
Key Features
- Patented ball-ramp slipper mechanism provides accurate, consistent anti-hopping control under hard trail-braking and aggressive downshifts.
- Minimised trigger impulse dramatically reduces highside risk by smoothing rear-wheel lock-up before it can escalate.
- Controlled sliding becomes a repeatable, manageable technique rather than a random event — critical for track-day riders and racers alike.
- Optimised engagement phase prevents the motorcycle from pitching forward (dive) mid-corner, preserving chassis balance and rider confidence.
- Diaphragm spring ensures even, judder-free clutch release with no pressure-plate wobble, giving a consistent bite point every time.
- Reduction in rotating mass of up to 0.8 kg over the stock assembly, contributing to sharper acceleration response and improved agility.
Racing Technology on the Road
STM's ball-ramp geometry is the result of years of competition development across Italian and European racing series. The ramp angles are tuned specifically for the Panigale V4's high-output Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine character — an engine known for its aggressive engine-braking behaviour at the top of its rev range. By replacing the factory clutch basket and pressure plate assembly with the FDU-S100, riders gain a system that actively manages rear-wheel torque rather than simply absorbing it.
The diaphragm spring design eliminates the inconsistency common in traditional coil-spring clutch setups. Pull weight at the lever stays predictable across the full operating temperature range, which matters enormously during long race stints or multi-session track days when muscle fatigue begins to affect feel.
Build Quality
STM manufactures the FDU-S100 from premium lightweight alloys selected for the combination of strength, wear resistance and low inertia. Every component is produced to tight tolerances in Italy, consistent with the brand's reputation across MotoGP, WorldSBK and national Superbike paddocks. The result is a clutch assembly that is notably lighter than stock, more durable under sustained high-temperature operation, and fully rebuildable — reducing long-term ownership cost for serious racers.
Fitment and Compatibility
The STM FDU-S100 is a direct-fit replacement slipper clutch designed for the following motorcycles:
- Ducati Panigale V4 — model years 2018 to 2026
- Ducati Panigale V4 S — model years 2018 to 2026
Always verify your specific model year and variant before fitting. If you are unsure of compatibility, contact the Inter-Pace team for confirmation before ordering.
