Sprint Filter lists a single element for the 790 Duke and for the 790 Duke L, and that one line in the catalogue settles a question owners of restricted machines ask regularly: is there a separate intake part for the A2 version? There is not. Whatever KTM does to hold the L inside its power ceiling, it does somewhere other than the airbox — housing, aperture and element are common to both. This is the same purchase for a rider on a restricted licence as for the rider they will be in two years.
Key Features
- Single-layer woven polyester, run dry, with fibres from 22 microns upward
- Filtration rated at 80 µm with a flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Around twice the working surface of a typical performance element
- Oil-free for its whole life, so there is no dose to judge and no film to migrate
- Takes the place of the paper panel in the series airbox; nothing cut, nothing remapped
- Washed and put back rather than renewed; two years of warranty run from purchase
One code, two licence classes
A restriction limits what an engine is permitted to deliver; it is not a change to what the engine breathes. The catalogue is the plainest evidence of that — if the L needed a different intake part there would be a second code for it, and there is not. The consequences are dull and useful. A 790 Duke L that is later derestricted keeps the filter it already has. A full-power 790 sold on to a rider who needs the A2 version arrives with an element that is already correct. And an owner comparing media never has to work out which of the two versions the specification was written around.
What an element can and cannot do
It will not make either version quicker. On the L the ceiling belongs to the licence category and is enforced electronically, so nothing in the intake tract can reach it; on the full-power 790 a drop-in filter does not move the figure either, and any page suggesting otherwise is selling something. What the P08 offers is narrower and real: an intake restriction the owner can put a number back to. Because the polyester is cleaned instead of consumed, the figure the engine works against becomes a maintained quantity rather than a quietly rising one, and an air line is all that stands between it and its original value.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air on the clean face, worked outward, so the load leaves by the side it arrived on. When air alone stops being enough, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent lifts the rest; rinse until the water runs clear. Drying happens in moving air and nowhere else — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — and the PM175S goes back untreated and thoroughly dry. The maintenance sheet for it is kept with the Downloads on this page.
Fitment & Compatibility
The P08 element for the KTM 790 Duke and 790 Duke L, model years 2018 to 2020. Five machines are listed against this code, running from the 790 through the 890 to the three 990s, because they share one airbox. The badge alone cannot identify a fitment here, so order by element code and by year. Every machine it covers is named in the Fitment tab.
