Three euro of stainless steel, welded to a pipe, and the anchor every sprung slip joint hangs from.
Key Features
- Hook for exhaust springs, stainless steel.
- Supplied for welding to the pipe.
- Spark part number SGATT068, made in Mantova, Italy.
Welded, Not Clamped
A spring hook has to be attached to the pipe itself — there is nowhere else to put it. Spark supplies the hook bare so that a fabricator can position it exactly where the joint needs it, which is usually two tube diameters back from the joint face on both halves.
Where to Put It
Directly opposite its partner, and far enough from the joint face that the spring pulls the two halves together rather than sideways. Get it wrong and the joint cocks under tension and leaks along one edge.
Tack both hooks, assemble the joint with the springs on, check the alignment, and only then weld them properly.
Stainless on Stainless
The hook is AISI 304 like the pipework, so it welds with the same filler and behaves the same way under heat. The titanium version, SGATT037, exists for titanium systems where a steel hook would be the wrong metal to put on the pipe.
How Many
Four per joint: two on each half. A system with three slip joints needs twelve, and they are three euro each — the cheapest part of building an exhaust that comes apart.
