Where It Sits
Öhlins gives it as 12 mm, 12 mm, 350 mm; nothing about that is approximate. A hose-mounted reservoir lets the damper be fitted where a piggyback would not go. The reservoir takes the oil the shaft displaces as it enters the damper. The reservoir hose carries the full gas charge and is pressure-tested accordingly.
Original Öhlins Part
Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on.
How to Be Sure It Fits
Order under 00636-09. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. The published dimensions are dimension a 12 mm, dimension b 12 mm, dimension c 350 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. A separating piston or bladder keeps nitrogen and oil apart; if it fails the damping goes with it. Hose length is specific to the installation and cannot be substituted freely.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
